Jane Bailey, clarinet, is a graduate, Magna Cum Laude, of the Hartt College of Music. She has studied with Manuel Valerio, Boston Symphony Orchestra and Stanley Hasty, Eastman School of Music, among others. A Concord native, she has lived in Germany, Georgia and Connecticut, where she taught and performed on the clarinet before returning home. In addition to teaching clarinet and saxophone, she has taught classroom and instrumental music, directing bands, orchestras and choruses. She has played in numerous orchestras, concert and marching bands, pit orchestras and small ensembles, currently playing in the Concord Orchestra and Symphony Pro Musica.

Charlyn Bethell, oboe, has performed with Monadnock Music, the Rhode Island Philharmonic, Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, Emmanuel Music, New Hampshire Symphony, and the Opera Company of Boston. She was a founding member of the New Art Winds woodwind quintet which made its New York debut in Carnegie Recital Hall in 1985. She is a founding member of the wind quintet Solar Winds, which recently commissioned and recorded The Fool of the World and the Flying Ship by John Kusiak. Ms. Bethell has performed premieres by several composers including Thomas Oboe Lee, Andy Vores, Hayes Biggs, and Francine Trester, and has recorded for CRI. In addition to performing, Ms. Bethell teaches Kodaly pedagogy and materials to graduate students at the Kodaly Music Institute of New England Conservatory, and oboe at Phillips Academy in Andover. She also teaches General Music to grades K-5 in the Concord Public Schools. Her educational background includes undergraduate degrees in music performance and education from Western Washington State University, a diploma from Det Jydsk Musikkonservatorium in Aarhus, Denmark, a Masters degree in Education from Cambridge College, and a certificate from the Kodaly Center of America.

Michael Carey, saxophone, earned a Bachelors degree in Music from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a minor in Music Theory. There he studied under Yusef Lateef, Jeff Holmes, Chris Mertz and Adam Kolker. More recently, he took lessons with Ravi Coltrane and George Garzone. Michael also attended the University of North Texas where he studied classical and jazz saxophone. After touring with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra under the direction of Buddy Morrow, he played on several cruise ships with Phil Woods, the Platters and The Crystals. Michael debuted at the Regatta Bar in 2006 with the New York based Bjorchestra. Michael also plays clarinet and flute, and has been teaching students of all ages in the area for eight years.

Sissie Siu Cohen, saxophone, began her studies at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She completed a Masters degree at New England Conservatory of Music and a B.M. at the Peabody Conservatory. She has performed with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the Boston Civic Symphony, Wellesley Symphony, and she has been featured on a solo broadcast program for RTHK radio in Hong Kong. Ms. Siu Cohen is currently the orchestra manager for the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, and teaches in Concord, Carlisle, Belmont, and Dover-Sherborn.

Tony D'Aveni, trumpet, studied jazz at North Texas State University. He has studied improvisation with Jerry Bergonzi and John McNeil. He has made many recordings, and has performed with Dick Johnson, the Jimmy Dorsey Big Band, White Heat Orchestra, Herb Pomeroy and many others, and has toured with Rita Moreno, Carol Channing, and Frankie Laine as featured soloist. Marc DeMille, voice, makes his living exclusively as a performer and teacher throughout Greater Boston. A native of Lynn, he is known to churchgoers all over New England, having sung as soloist and chorister for upwards of 500 services annually at over 100 houses of worship during the last 15 years. In the concert world, he is well sought-after for his lyric baritone voice, performing regularly with professional ensembles Philovox and The Boston Secession. Recent solo work includes engagements with the Nashua Symphony Orchestra, Assabet Valley Mastersingers, Marblehead Festival Chorus and the Newburyport Community Messiah Sing. Mr. DeMille pursued undergraduate work at MIT, studying with John Oliver, William Cutter, Richard Morrison and Margaret O'Keefe; more recently, he has been under the tutelage of Frank Kelley. In addition to his duties at IMSCC, he teaches voice in the Wakefield school system. Having recently moved to Concord, he is enjoying his new hometown with his newlywed wife, Kelly.

Brian L. Diehl, trombone, is a Boston-based trombonist and educator. A member of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Diehl performs with orchestras throughout the New England area, including the Hartford Symphony Portland Symphony, and Opera Boston. He has recorded with the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Orchestra of Indian Hill, and Pro Arte Orchestra. Mr. Diehl has performed with the Boston Symphony in Carnegie Hall, recorded with the Chicago Symphony under Solti's direction, and has been a featured soloist with the West Point Band, Florida West Coast Symphony, and Florida Brass Quintet. Additionally, he has performed with the Epic Brass Quintet and has toured and recorded with the New World Brass Quintet as a member of the New World Symphony. Mr. Diehl is on the faculty of University of Southern Maine where he conducts the Trombone Choir, as well as New England Conservatory Preparatory School, and has served on the faculty of the University of South Florida and Florida International University. He has presented master classes at many schools and colleges, including the Eastman School of Music. Mr. Diehl has adjudicated for several All-State festivals. He earned a B.M. at Northwestern University and a Masters degree in Music at New England Conservatory (where he became the first brass player to receive the prestigious Rabb Presidential Scholarship).

Alexei Doohovskoy, trombone, is an active Boston area freelancer and private teacher. In addition to his teaching through IMSCC, he also serves as an instructor at Brown University, The Fenn School, and the Wellesley Public Schools. He has performed with the Boston Symphony, the Boston Pops, the Rhode Island Philharmonic, the Vermont Symphony, the Orchestra of Indian Hill, and the Empire Brass Quintet. From 2001 to 2004, Mr. Doohovskoy was the Co-Principal Trombonist of the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Florida, where he worked closely with Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas and many other distinguished conductors and composers. Paula Eldridge has taught voice and piano since 1974. She studied in the University of Michigan doctoral program, received a B.M. at Westminster Choir College, and earned a Masters degree in Music at Boston Conservatory. She has studied jazz with Rebecca Parris. Ms. Eldridge has performed with the Bach Festival Chorus, the John Oliver Chorale, and Salisbury Singers. She has also performed as soloist with a jazz trio.

Jason Felitto, bass guitar, string bass, piano and keyboards, received a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Boston Conservatory, where he studied with Janice Weber. His studies in New York include the Manhattan School of Music where he studied string bass with Linda McKnight. Mr. Felitto has performed with groups ranging from chamber music to progressive jazz and fusion, and is bandleader of the jazz and dance band Skyline Quintet.

Phil Grenadier has been a professional trumpet player for the last twenty-seven years, performing all over the world. He has released two CD's of his own on the label Fresh Sound/New Talent, based in Barcelona, and appeared as a sideman on some forty CD's. He has performed with such diverse artists as Ella Fitzgerald, Carlos Santana, and James Brown. Nune Hakobyan, piano, received her musical training in Armenia, earning a Masters degree in Piano Performance at Komitas State Conservatory and a B.M. at Tchaikovsky Music School. Ms. Hakobyan has performed numerous solo and chamber music recitals throughout the northeast. She is currently organist at St. James Amenian Church in Watertown, Massachusetts. She holds the position of vocal accompanist at Boston Conservatory, and is pianist with the Nashua Symphony. Ms. Hakobyan teaches privately at her home studio, and has taught piano in Yerevan, Armenia.

Chip Halt, tuba, received his musical training at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Floyd Cooley of the San Francisco Symphony. An active performer the Boston area, he has played with many local orchestras, including Boston Lyric Opera, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Boston Philharmonic, and Indian Hill Orchestras. Currently a member of the Claflin Hill Symphony and Summer Winds, he has also played with the Albany Symphony, Portland Symphony, Flagstaff Festival of the Arts Orchestra and many others. As a member of the Epic Brass Quintet, Mr. Halt has made several recordings, and has appeared as soloist with orchestras across the country.

Megan Harlow, voice, is the Choral Director of Carlisle Public Schools. She received a Masters Degree in Music Education from Gordon College and a BA in Music with an Education minor from Salisbury University. She is the Associate Conductor of the Gordon College Children's Choir and the Director of the Calvary Church Children's Choir. She has performed with a variety of choral ensembles and has been a featured vocalist for the early music ensemble Holly Consort.

Wade Hendricks, saxophone, earned a Master of Music in Conducting from American Band College and a B.M. in Music Education from the University of Colorado. He has performed with many ensembles on saxophone and clarinet, including the Metropolitan Wind Symphony and Boston College Concert Band. Mr. Hendricks teaches instrumental music classes in the Concord Public Schools. He gives beginning and supplementary group lessons in the elementary and middle schools, and conducts the 5th grade beginning band.

Susan Jackson, flute, earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees in flute performance at New England Conservatory where she studied with Fenwick Smith. Ms. Jackson was a three time finalist in Boston's prestigious Pappoutsakis flute competition, winning second prize in 1989. Susan has performed with several orchestras throughout New England including the Portland Symphony, Vermont Symphony, Boston Philharmonic and Central Massachusetts Symphony. She is currently principal flutist with the New Hampshire Philharmonic and Concord Orchestra where she has been featured as a soloist as well. She has been teaching with IMSCC since 1991.

Deanna Johnson, flute, holds a Masters of Music degree in Performance and a B.M. in Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa. Her performing experience includes ten years in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls (Iowa) Symphony Orchestra, where she played piccolo and later became principal flutist. Other ensembles include The Chamber Orchestra of Iowa Symphony Orchestra (solo principal flutist), UNI Faculty Woodwind Quintet, Chicago Civic Orchestra (principal flute, piccolo), Tenerife Symphony Orchestra (Canary Islands), and several live performances on KUNI and WGBH National Public Radio. As a high school student, Ms. Johnson began teaching flute lessons to beginners and has continued teaching since, holding the following positions: UNI School of Music Instructor of Flute; Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa, Adjunct Instructor of Flute; University of Wisconsin - Madison, Summer Music Clinic; Director of K-12 Instrumental Music, New Hartford, Iowa. In addition to teaching with IMSCC, Ms. Johnson currently teaches at Lincoln/Hanscom AFB.

Sargis Karapetyan, violin and viola, received his musical training in Armenia, where he attended Komitas State University, earning a Masters degree in Music. He is currently concertmaster of the Nashua Symphony, and principal second violin with the Cape Symphony. He has performed solo recitals throughout the northeast, and has recorded performances for Yerevan radio and television in Armenia. He has also performed with Gelikon Opera Theater in Moscow, Arno Babajanian String Quartet and Symphony Orchestra. He currently teaches at Clark University and Boston Conservatory.

Ron Kaye, oboe, earned a Master of Music at the Peabody Institute and a B.M. at St. Olaf College in Minnesota, He has studied with Rhadames Angelucci, principal oboe of the Minnesota Orchestra, Joseph Turner, principal oboe of the Baltimore Symphony, and Jonathan Blumenfeld of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Mr. Kaye performs with the Boston Philharmonic, Portland Symphony, Nashua Symphony, and with Emmanuel Music. In addition to teaching with IMSCC, Mr. Kaye currently teaches at the All-Newton Music School, Newton and Natick public schools, and Walnut Hill Arts Academy.

Don Kirby, percussion, has been drumming for 47 years and has been teaching with IMSCC since 1983. Private study with mentors Ernest Pickford, William Jamsa, Stanley Spector, Alan Dawson, and Fred Buda were undertaken over a twelve year span. At 12 years old he auditioned for George Lawrence Stone and became a member of the National Association of Rudimental Drummers. During his high school years in Leominster, he was three times chosen for MMEA Central Senior District and twice for MMEA All-State, once for band and once for orchestra. Mr. Kirby toured Europe after high school with the Concordia Wind Ensemble before enrolling in Berklee College of Music. Interests in all styles of drumming have led Mr. Kirby to a lifetime career in bands too numerous to list. He currently has an active recording and gig schedule, primarily with the Mark Marquis Group. His weekly teaching responsibilities include instruction of nearly 40 students here at IMSCC and at a private academy in Ashburnham, as well as a day in his home area in the valley of cultural fatigue.

Scott Knopf, violin and viola, holds an undergraduate degree from Harvard and a Masters degree in String Performance from Boston University. He is presently a member of the Massachusetts Symphony, the Hillyer Festival Orchestra, Opera North, and the Green Mountain Opera Festival. He has appeared with chamber ensembles throughout New England, and with the Springfield Symphony, Portland Symphony, Rhode Island Philharmonic, Masterworks Chorale, New Hampshire Music Festival, and the Montovani Orchestra on tours of the United States and Japan. Mr. Knopf's violin and viola can be heard on several local artistÕs CDs as well as on the soundtracks of PBS's American Experience documentaries: "Eleanor Roosevelt" and "The Fiske Jubilee Singers." He has performed with Smokey Robinson, Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis, Brian Wilson, the Irish Tenors, and Michael Crawford. Mr. Knopf, who presently directs the award-winning Concord-Carlisle High School Orchestra, is former violin program director of the New England Conservatory Lab Charter School. He has been an auditions adjudicator for the the MTNA Strings Competition, the Kennedy Center/ NSO Summer Music Institute, several All-State Festivals, and the MMTA Solo Competition.

Tobi-Ann Kocher, flute, received her musical training at Peabody Conservatory of Music and Johns Hopkins University, where she earned a Bachelors degree in Music. She has studied with Marianne Gedegian, Ransom Wilson, and Britton Johnson, principal flute with the Baltimore Symphony. Ms. Kocher has performed with the Longwood Symphony, the Lexington Sinfonietta, and L'Orchestre Symphonique Genevois in Geneva, Switzerland. Ms. Kocher has taught locally in the Wayland schools and Brookline Music School, as well as the International School of Geneva, Switzerland.

Debbie Levine, clarinet, earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Performance at Boston University's School for the Arts, where she studied with Boston Symphony principal clarinetist Harold Wright. She has also studied with Boston Symphony clarinetist Peter Hadcock. She performs throughout the Boston area, appearing frequently with the Lyricum Woodwind Quintet. As a member to the Lyricum Quintet, Ms. Levine has premiered several works by local composers. Her performances have been heard on National Public Radio. She has performed with the Experimental Theater Group at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., and with the Music Theater Group in Lenox, Massachusetts. Ms. Levine has taught privately at the Winchester Community Music School, the Middlesex School, and Newton and Sudbury public schools. In addition to teaching with IMSCC, she is currently on the faculty at Concord Academy.

Marian Levinstein began playing the cello as a child. She has studied and performed ever since, studying with David Levinstein, Joan Esch, and Mischa Nieland. She has performed with many groups, including the Concord Orchestra, Savoyard Light Opera Company, and Klezmer Conservatory Band.

Ellen Michaud Martins, French horn, Received her Bachelor of Music from the University of Lowell and a Masters of Music with Distinction from the New England Conservatory. She is a member of the New Hampshire Symphony Orchestra, and the contemporary ensemble Dinosaur Annex and performs frequently with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, Boston Ballet Orchestra, Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, Cantata Singers Orchestra, and Portland Symphony Orchestra. She has performed six tours throughout Greece and Russia as soloist and member of the contemporary chamber ensemble Alea III. Ms. Michaud Martins is on the music faculty as horn professor, Brass Coordinator, and ensemble Coordinator at University of Massachusetts Lowell, Department of Music. She can be heard in orchestral & chamber music recordings on the Koch International, CRI, Titanic and Albany labels.

Angela Monke started playing piano at age 4, has been accompanying professionally since age 14 and teaching piano lessons since age 17. She has Bachelor of Music degrees from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in both piano performance and music education, as well as a Master of Music degree in music education. Angela has performed five solo recitals in the Leominster and Amherst areas and continues to accompany a large variety of events from elementary school musicals to graduate level recitals. She accompanied the second place winner of the NATS Boston Song Festival in 1999 and the first place winner of the MMTA Yamaha High School Piano Competition in 2000 (Angela won that competition herself in 1991). She currently teaches general music in the Carlisle Public Schools, where she has been teaching since 1998.

Thomas O'Halloran, IMSCC instructor of low brass instruments, received degrees in music performance and music education from Carnegie-Mellon University, as well as a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Educational Leadership and Management from Fitchburg State College. Recently retired as the music director and fine arts coordinator for twenty-three years in the Carlisle Schools, he taught for the previous eleven years in the Belmont Public Schools. He is the recipient of the Massachusetts Music Educators Association's Lowell Mason Award and the Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association's Paul Smith Hall of Fame Award.

Travis Peterson, trumpet, earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Indiana University, and a graduate degree in performance from New England Conservatory. Mr. Peterson has been a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center. He has performed with the Boston Symphony and is an active free-lance musician in the Boston area.

Robert Pettipaw, trumpet, is currently Brass Department Chair for the New England Conservatory Preparatory School, a position he also held until retirement at the Boston Conservatory. Mr. Pettipaw has taught at UMass Lowell, MIT and Brown University. He has performed with the Boston Symphony, Boston Pops, and Boston Ballet orchestras. He currently performs with Young Audiences, with the Cantabrigia Brass Quintet and Boston Brass Ensemble.

Jeremy Ronkin, French horn, holds music degrees from Memphis State and Northwestern University where he studied with Dale Clevenger. He has performed with many orchestras including IRIS Chamber Orchestra, Memphis Symphony, Arkansas Symphony, and Illinois Symphony; he has performed with the new music ensemble Noamnesia, and has recently returned form the North American Tour of Miss Saigon. Formerly on the faculty at the University of Memphis, Mr. Ronkin currently teaches at Bellingham High School and Blackstone Millville Regional High School as well as IMSCC.

Deana Saada-Smith, French horn, is currently the Band Director of the Carlisle Public Schools. She received her Masters degree from Ithaca College in Music Education, and her Bachelors degree from Ithaca College in Music Education and French horn performance. She previously taught Elementary and Middle School Band in New York State for three years, as well as one year in Wayland, Massachusetts as a permanent substitute. She has performed in several community bands and orchestras and currently performs with the Metropolitan Wind Symphony. Deana also performed French horn and vocals in a Rock N' Roll Band, Teachers' Lounge, while in Ithaca, NY, and recorded a CD titled "Farewell" which was released in December 2005.

Christopher Salvo, clarinet, holds a Master of Music degree in performance from Northwestern University and a BA in Music from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Mr. Salvo has soloed with the Kobe Civic Orchestra in Kobe, Japan, performed with the Civic Orchestra of Boston, and made several recordings for Atlantic Records. Fluent in Japanese, Mr. Salvo taught English in Japan for several years. In addition to teaching with IMSCC, Mr. Salvo currently teaches clarinet with Cohler & Associates and in the Westwood Public Schools.

Benjamin Seltzer, clarinet, recently moved back to the Boston area. Hailed by the Boston Globe as a "first-rate clarinetist," Ben has been principal clarinet with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra for the past seven years. He has also been guest principal with the Grand Rapids Symphony and the Gilmore Festival Orchestra, and has played with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra. Ben has won several prizes including First Prize at the Coleman International Chamber Music Competition in California. He has performed in thirteen countries around the world and has attended summer music festivals at Banff, Killington, IMAI, National Orchestral Institute, Schleswig-Holstein and Stockbridge. Ben attended the New England Conservatory of Music where his teacher was Craig Nordstrom. He has also studied with David Weber and Yehuda Gilad. As a teacher of all ages and abilities, Ben maintains a large teaching studio in the Boston area. Ben's students have won local competitions and have been accepted into clarinet performance degree programs at such prestigious schools as the University of Michigan and Peabody Conservatory.

Matthew Small, trumpet, began his musical studies at Montana State University, earning a B.M., and went on to earn a Masters degree in Jazz Performance at New England Conservatory. He has studied with Charles Schlueter, principal trumpet with the Boston Symphony, and with John McNeil and Ken Schaphorst. Mr. Small has performed locally with many varied ensembles, including the North Shore Brass Quintet, Ayn Inserto Big Band, and Oberlaendler Hofbrau Band and has made several recordings. He has also performed with the Montana Symphony and Glen Johnston Big Band. Mr. Small is currently on the faculty at the All-Newton Music School, and is Music Director at the Bartlett School.

Andrei Sobchenko, saxophone and clarinet, is a native of Russia. He completed his Bachelors degree in Music Education and Perfomance at the Gnesin Academy of Music in Moscow. He later received a Master of Music degree with Kenneth Radnofsky at Boston University. He has appeared as soloist and orchestral musician in Russia, France, Germany, and the US. In Russia, Mr. Sobchenko performed with the Moscow Philharmonic and the USSR State Symphony. He was principle saxophonist with the Russian Federation Concert Band. As a soloist in the US, Mr. Sobchenko has appeared on National Public Radio, premiering a newly commissioned work for saxophone and piano by Pulitzer Prize recipient John Harbison. At the XI Congreso Mundial de Saxofon in September 1997, he premiered the trio "Mahler in Blue Light" by composer Larry Bell. Mr. Sobchenko's articles have been published in "Saxophone Journal" and "Saxofonbladet", Denmark. In addition to private teaching, Mr. Sobchenko also directs the newly formed concert band at Central Catholic High School. As former director of the Concord Carlisle Regional High School orchestra, he led to group to win a gold medal in the 2004 MICCA competition. In his teaching approach, Mr. Sobchenko focuses on traditional classical methods, combining both Russian and French styles of teaching.

Christopher Stahl, bassoon, holds a Masters Degree in Music Performance from the University of Texas at Austin. He is currently Principal Bassoon with the United States Air Force Band of Liberty. Mr. Stahl has performed with the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony, Moscow State Radio Symphony, and Las Vegas Music Festival. He has studied with bassoonists Truman Harris, Kristin Wolfe, and Richard Svoboda.

Jerry Vejmola, saxophone, clarinet, flute, oboe, got his musical training at Berklee College of Music in Boston. He has studied with Eddie Daniels, Steve Grossman, and Joe Allard and others. Mr. Vejmola is an active performer whose current affiliations include White Heat Swing Orchestra, South Shore Music Theater, North Shore Music Theater, Quincy Symphony, and Foxwoods Casino. He has performed with the Buddy Rich Band, Tito Puente, the Artie Shaw Orchestra, and with numerous well-known artists including Aretha Franklin, Smokey Robinson, Johnny Carson, Donna Summer, and Cab Calloway. In addition to his work with IMSCC, Mr. Vejmola currently teaches at Brookline Music School, and in the Watertown and Lexington public schools.

Michael Weinstein, French horn, holds a PhD from Brandeis in Music Composition and Theory and a Masters degree from New England Conservatory. Mr. Weinstein, a well-published composer, divides his time between teaching theory and composition at Berklee College of Music and other area schools, performing with the Nashua Symphony and Capital Brass Quintet, teaching French horn at New England Conservatory's extension division, coaching GBYSO horn sectionals, and composing. Mr. Weinstein has received many commissions for compositions, and has written works for orchestra, wind ensemble, and numerous chamber works for a variety of small ensembles.

Jason Yost, guitar, studied music at Berklee College of Music and earned a BA in Music at the University of New Hampshire. He is an active performer in the Boston area, versatile in many styles of music, including funk, jazz, rock, blues, metal and hip hop. Jason has performed with many bands including Mighty Sam McClain, Sam Kininger Band, Bellamy Bros., Vitamin C, The Aaron Katz Band, and Headshaft. Jason has also performed with band members from The Trey Anastasio Band, John Scofield Band, Beyonce, Eric Benet, and Soulive. Jason has taught guitar in New Hampshire, at Hampton Academy Jr. High, Rye Jr. High, Winnacunnet High School, and Newmarket Jr. and Sr. High School. In addition to his teaching with IMSCC, he is currently on the faculty at the Brookline Music School.
