Learn to Play in a Band - Rock, Pop and Jazz Styles
This new class introduces young musicians of all levels to a variety of contemporary music styles featuring the music of Green Day, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead and other popular bands. Students will listen to songs and learn about songwriting, performing songs accurately, and what makes a band sound great. IMSCC faculty member Jason Felitto, an active jazz and rock band performer, will talk about individual songs and musical styles, demonstrate techniques, and give students a chance to play and experience the awesome feeling of playing in a band. In the first few classes students who are interested in playing in class will be grouped into bands with others of similar abilities and will work in a "master class" environment. Open to students grades 7 and up, all skill levels and instruments welcome.
